Facts about Asbestos Licensing

Friable Class A

Previously termed AS1, a friable class A asbestos removal licence allows the licence holder to remove friable asbestos and non-friable asbestos and ACD (asbestos contaminated dust or debris) associated with the removal of friable and non-friable asbestos. ACD is any dust or debris that has settled within a workplace and is, or assumed to be, contaminated with asbestos.

Non-friable Class B

Previously termed AS2, a non-friable class B asbestos removal licence allows the licence holder to remove non-friable asbestos and ACD associated with the removal of non-friable asbestos only.

Note: Non-friable (bonded) asbestos is categorized as friable when it can be pulverised in the palm of your hand, also when it is hail damaged or fire damaged or when it is severely weathered.
