The Female Orphan School is recognised as being the oldest three-storey brick building in Australia, and the nation’s oldest public building.

Beasy were engaged to perform the Friable Asbestos Removal and Lead Paint Removal from this heritage building.

Specialist tools and methods were used to perform the full removal of lead paint from the interior heritage walls. Beasy project managers and supervisors also developed techniques which allowed the removal of specific layers of paint in order to expose heritage art work which had been painted over during the course of the building’s life.

Beasy worked closely with their client, WorkCover and independent occupational hygienists and demonstrated their safe work practices while removing all hazardous materials from this heritage building in an operational university.
